Born and raised in Guanajuato, Mexico, Julio Lopez had a dream. The dream to one day open his very own restaurant. At the age of 17 Julio migrated to the United States, living and working throughout the States of California and Arizona. Realizing that maintaining a west coast lifestyle was not the right option, Julio traversed back to Mexico. After Mexico, he found he’s way to Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he’s spent the last 30 years. “Milwaukee offered a better job opportunity and a stable local economy,” said Julio. With his goal to open a restaurant of his own still in mind, 2006arrived and his plans were suddenly possible. But Julio had to endure the challenges and obstacles of being an entrepreneur. With his wife Carolina by his side they both left their regular jobs and put all their attention into the development of the restaurant. In 2007, they opened their first Guanajuato Restaurant. The dreams of Julio and Carolina had finally been realized. Since then they have relocated to 2317 S. Howell Ave. in the Bayview area. All of their success is owed to the Bayview community who has showed them much love and support throughout the years. “We are very grateful to the community and those who have stayed by Guanajuato through everything,” said Julio. Carolina and Julio continue to create and serve authentic Mexican cuisine, made with the freshest ingredients, 7 days a week.
